ADA.ORG EN ESPAÑOL
In 1900, only about 500,000 people of Hispanic origin lived in the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number has surpassed 41 million and represents the nations fastest-growing population group, expanding at three times the rate of the total population.
Spanish-language content available on ADA.org En Español includes "AZ" dental health topics, "Frequently Asked Questions" for patients, JADAs "For the Dental Patient," summaries of the latest oral health issues, childrens games, and videos on dental care and oral health. Among the 40-some topics covered are dental implants, diabetes and oral health, childrens dental care, root canals, dry mouth and oral cancer.
"Adding the Spanish pages to ADA.org is important as per our nations most recent census that Hispanics are becoming the majority minority," said Dr. Lidia Epel, immediate past chair of the ADA Council on Membership and past member of the ADA Committee on International Programs and Development. "Patients need good information, and our site is the premier site for oral health information, so now we can reach this growing population group and help meet their needs."
Material for ADA.org En Español was developed with assistance from the Hispanic Dental Association.
If you want to stay current with breaking news about the Association and the dental profession, there is a new tool at your disposal: ADA News Today now is available through Really Simple Syndication (RSS).
