I read Dr. Eugene Whitakers March JADA article, "Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Treatment of Dental Caries: A 20-Year Case Report," with great interest (
JADA 2006;137:34852
). My feeling is that he "watched" incipient caries become a pulp cap and large amalgam restoration on tooth no. 13. My experience tells me that such teeth often are lost.
Does Dr. Whitaker intend to "watch" the other incipient lesions become decayed so badly that pulp caps and large restorations are needed on them as well?
