Dr. Yeager says that "accredited dental schools ... certify that their graduates have met all requirements, have achieved professional competence and are ready for licensure." Only part of this is true. Schools do not certify competence of individuals; schools certify that students have met requirements for graduation. They also may certify to licensure testing agencies that students have completed the subjects required for eligibility for a particular examination or that students have completed or are expected within a certain time to complete academic requirements to complete a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree.
