Author’s response

I appreciate Dr. Brill’s comments and agree with them completely. As in any area, both education and experience are necessary to provide competent therapy. Every one of the specialty areas has its complex phases and its simple phases.

For over 40 years, I have encouraged dentists to become involved with the simpler phases of every specialty area of dentistry. It is my candid and strong belief that this allows them to refer the complex cases with more competence, and to develop respect for the specialists’ skills.

Again, I thank Dr. Brill for his comments.
