I would like to thank Dr. Sussman for his letter. Dr. Sussman’s works also have documented the communication that can occur between apical pathology and implant failure. In the particular sentence he questions, it was Esposito and colleagues’¹ article that I was referring to that did not quote this communication of the tooth to the implant as a cause of failure. That this communication can cause implant failure is cited in the second part of the sentence. I feel my article complements Dr. Sussman’s work and provides a variation of what he classifies as a type 2 tooth to implant failure.
