D. Erik Kern, Dallas, received a National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Individual Predoctoral Dental Scientist Fellowship.
Dr. Michael Webb, Garland, Texas, will become program director of graduate pediatric dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry.
Dr. Frank W. Licari, Riverside, Ill., was named associate dean for patient care and clinical education at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
Dr. Evan B. Goodman, Libertyville, Ill., was installed as president of the Academy of Dentistry International. Other elected officials include Dr. Larry A. Williams, Benson, N.C., president-elect; and Dr. Lawrence K. Cox II, Adrian, Mich., vice-president.
Dr. Raymond P. White Jr., Chapel Hill, N.C., won the International Dentist of the Year Award from the Academy of Dentistry International. Other recipients include Dr. Arthur I. Hazlewood, Brooklyn, N.Y., Award of Distinction; Dr. Robert M. Kriegsman, Greensboro, N.C., Humanitarian Award; and Dr. Henry J. Sazima, Bethesda, Md., Hillenbrand Award.
Dr. James P. Vernetti, Coronado, Calif., was named a distinguished fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dame Margaret Seward, London, D.B.E., D.D.S., F.D.S., has been appointed Chief Dental Officer of the United Kingdom.
