Dr. Richard Fredekind, San Francisco, has been appointed acting assistant dean for clinical services at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. It was mistakenly reported in December JADAs Appointments/ Elections/Awards section that he had been appointed dean. Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni remains the dean of the Universitys School of Dentistry.
In the November JADA article "Nanodentistry: Fact or Fiction?" by Titus L. Schleyer, D.M.D., Ph.D., an incorrect unit of measure was given. The first two complete sentences in the right-hand column on page 1567 should read as follows: "The nucleus of a cell is approximately 8 µm in diameter. A typical blood-borne nanorobot will measure approximately 1 µm in diameter, or eight times smaller in diameter than the nucleus of a cell."
In the November JADA Letters section, an incorrect unit of measure was given in the second to the last paragraph of the response by Gordon J. Christensen, D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D., on page 1534. All of the units of measure referred to in this paragraph should be micrometers: 1 micrometer, 30 µm, 55 µm and 100 µm.
JADA regrets these errors.
