Dr. Arden Christen, Indianapolis, was appointed to guide the expenditure of Indiana tobacco settlement money toward tobacco education, prevention and control.
Dr. James S. Cole, Dallas, was named 1999 Dentist of the Year by the Dallas County Dental Society. Dr. O.V. Cart-wright, Grand Prairie, received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Jodi Danna-Denton, Dallas, received the 1999 New Dentist of the Year Award.
Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni, San Francisco, received the American Dental Education Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Mary Hayes, Chicago, received the 2000 Cushing Award from the Chicago Dental Society.

Dr. Lee M. Jameson, Palos Heights, Ill., was selected as supreme president of Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity.

Dr. Allen H. Moffitt, Murray, Ky., was elected a director of the American Board of Orthodontics of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. John P. Sullivan, Winfield, Ill., was elected a fellow in the American College of Legal Medicine.
Dr. Robert L. Schneider, Solon, Iowa, was elected vice president of the American Prosthodontic Society.
Dr. Mark J. Steinberg, Bethlehem, Pa., was appointed chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Medicine at Loyola University Chicago Medical Center.
