OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES?

Thanks for the outstanding "common sense" editorial in October JADA, "The Perfect Patient." It never ceases to amaze me how we, as dentists, can be our own worst enemies.

There was an expression once in the military regarding organizations mistreating their young officers by giving them poor performance evaluations and so on: "they eat their young." Unfortunately, we have been doing it the same way in dentistry for years and probably will for many years into the future.

Thanks again for an excellent perspective on the problem and some potential solutions.

John Ivanhoe, D.D.S.
