APPOINTMENTS/ELECTIONS/AWARDS

Dr. Timothy J. Carlson, Indianapolis, was installed as president of the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators. Other officers installed were Dr. Richard D. Tucker, Bellingham, Wash., president-elect; Dr. Robert C. Keene, Hanover, N.H., vice president; and Dr. Ronald K. Harris, Noblesville, Ind., secretary-treasurer.

Dr. Jack Conley, Glendale, Calif., was appointed as holder of the Rex Ingraham Chair in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry.

Dr. Robert W. Fry, Olathe, Kan., and the Fry Orthodontic organization received the Kansas Award for Excellence from the Kansas Award for Excellence Foundation.

Steven I. Gold, New York, was installed as president of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists.

Dr. Edward S. Nacht, Plantation, Fla., received the Samuel D. Harris Award of Excellence from the American Society of Dentistry for Children. Dr. Nacht also received the Outstanding Editorial Award from the William J. Gies Foundation for the Advancement of Dentistry.

Dr. Arthur Nimmo, Farmington, Mich., joined the University of Florida College of Dentistry as professor and the chair of the department of prosthodontics.

Dr. Robert T. Ragan, Cleveland, Miss., was installed as the president of the American College of Dentists. Other officers elected were Dr. Richard E. Bradley, Lincoln, Neb., president-elect; Dr. Kenneth E. Follmar Sr., Saratoga, Fla., vice president; and Dr. James C. Murphy, Richmond, Ky., regent for Regency 4 of Richmond, Ky.

Dr. Harold I. Sussman, New York, received the "Certificate of Merit" from the American Red Cross and a citation for using cardiopulmonary resuscitation to save the life of a person.
